The refurbishment of the Rubrics includes the installation of a 188 kW Ground Source Heat Pump system to provide heating and domestic hot water.  A network of 21 No. sealed, closed loop geothermal probes are being installed in New Square to provide the source of energy to the ground source system.  The works  undertaken by GeoServ included the drilling of the boreholes, installation of the geothermal collector and connection of these using pre-insulated pipe to a central chamber and the underground plant room as well as the supply of the heat pumps and buffers. The geothermal collector will provide a source of energy to the heat pumps in an underground plant room and offers a low-visual impact solution that will integrate a renewable energy technologies to facilitate the preservation and upgrade of historical buildings..  The work is being completed for main contractor Clancy in collaboration with Walls Well Drilling, Glenergy and Geolorn
